This session will cover the recent changes in employment law and court decisions that most affect employers. At press time, the agenda includes topics from U.S. Supreme Court decisions on Defense of Marriage Act, proof issues in retaliation claims, and the definition of supervisor to Colorado Supreme Court decisions on independent contractor status and whether off-duty use of marijuana is protected by the state’s lawful off-duty activities law.  Also discussed will be new Colorado laws on civil unions, family care leave for civil union and domestic partners, and use of credit information for applicants and employees. Emerging trends and new developments that surface will also be identified. We will discuss the way the wind is blowing with regard to credit and criminal screening, and the latest development in social media. This session is for anyone wishing to stay abreast of the latest developments.
